March 2008 Update – In late 2007 Guatemala passed a new
adoption law and in 2008 Guatemala implemented a Central
Authority pursuant to the Hague Convention.
We
continue to process cases for our in-process families and those
cases are going well. However we still are not accepting new
applications for Guatemala. We will open for new Guatemala
applications when the new law becomes implemented and the
central authority determines its adoption processes.
We
remain committed to the children of Guatemala and to our mission
statement and will continue to keep our parents updated of
developments.
For This Child is an
international child placing agency licensed by the State of
Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. On
February 29, 2008, For This Child was among the first U.S.
adoption agencies to achieve Hague Approval from the Council on
Accreditation (COA)
pursuant to the Intercountry Adoption
Act of 2000.
We work with parents from
all over the United States and the United Kingdom who wish to
adopt from
Guatemala. It is our pleasure to work with both
married couples and single parents. Parents pursuing
Guatemala adoption who are open to either a baby boy or a baby
girl assure themselves a fast referral in our Guatemala adoption program.
Infants from Guatemala arrive home to the United
States at a
young age compared to other international programs.
For more information about our Guatemala
adoption program, please see our
About Guatemala Adoptions page.
For This Child performs
comprehensive medical testing on every baby that
comes into care.
We believe we offer some unique services. Read about
